Ep #13- This is why we “People-Please” and the Psychology behind it

People-pleasers- They will often go out of their way to please someone,

even if it means taking their own valuable time or resources away from themselves.

People-pleasing is when we say things to others in order to make them feel good at our own cost,

People-pleasing is where we focus on making other people feel good and thus we lie to impress them.

People-pleasing is where we hide how we feel and tell people what they want to hear.

People-pleasing is when we tell people what they want to hear so we don’t hurt their feelings by speaking the truth.

People-pleasing is when we say things that are not true because we know if we say the truth we will hurt their feelings and they can in return treat us badly or make us feel bad.

I’m a recovering people-pleaser.

For most of my life, I have been taught by society to lie or hide how I feel and make sure not to hurt other people’s feelings, no matter what.

But with time I have discovered that whenever I do this I hurt my own feelings instead.

Below is an episode of how I’m now managing people-pleasing, I’m sharing with you why we people-please and what we need to do to start working on it.
